Aspirin mask for acne and ingrown hair

aspirinmask What it does: Helps with active acne and spots. You can expect pretty fast results. Skin will be softer and blemishes reduced.

It also prevents ingrown hair (razor bumps) after shaving or waxing.

Why it helps: Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, which is similar but not identical to the active component, salicylic acid. Salicylic acid cleanses clogged pores. Salicylic acid is also the one active substance that can visibly improve razor bumps.

How to do it:

Crush 3-4 plain uncoated aspirin in water. It should resemble a paste. You can apply it on your face as a mask, but it will flake off as it dries. (If you do not want it to flake off, mix it with moisturizer instead of water. Aloe Vera is a good option. Honey is also good if you have it on hand.)

Spread this paste on your face and leave on until it begins to dry. To remove, wash off with water.

For the prevention of ingrown hair or bumps after shaving or waxing, you can use a more diluted paste (add a little bit more water to the crushed aspirin).

Spread this mixture over dry skin (face/legs/arms/underarms) immediately after shaving or waxing. Leave to dry.

Why this works: If you’re wondering why this works so well, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) is the main active ingredient in store-bought razor bump and ingrown hair products.

  1. I used the crushed aspirin actually (8) dissolved in water mixed with the honey and spread it all over my face waited 15 minutes and washed my face for 2 minutes…….my face is soo soft feels tighter and cleaner, its very refreshing.
    This works ladies…….

  2. Be careful with honey, though. Some kinds of acne are caused by bacteria, and bacteria gets along great with sugar.

  3. Added a little glycerin and pure aloe vera for skin softness; left in on 20 min no flaking – really works! For dry skin, add a few drops tea tree oil!

  4. We treat acne scarring more than I care to perform. The main thing is it is preventable and things like the aspirin wash(contains trace salicylic)can really work wonders. I had acne when I was younger and have had painful numerous facial peels to improve my skin. Laser surgery is better but is costly. the point is follow the tips here when you are young and avoid unnecessary procedures later.

  5. I have the WORST ingrowns and scars from shaving… so tonight I am trying Tylenol instead of asprin because that’s all I have, so I’ll let you know if it works.. I have tried EVERYTHING and the only thing so far to work is PFB, but its so expensive!

  6. My mother crushes asprin and puts it in her shampoo…. she SWEARS it helps with her dandruf and Psoriasis.

  7. I have tried almost every product on the market for my acne-prone skin. The ONLY PRODUCT that made me notice a significant reduction of acne was the Shielo Complexion Scrub.

This scrub did leave my face feeling less oily and cleaner.

I use it approximately 2-3 times per week after cleansing and it has yet to dry my face out. It’s not perfect, but I think it works about as well as some of the prescription treatments that i’ve used.

If you have severe acne, I highly recommend it. I bought online at Shielo’s website, which also has free shipping.

  8. i have constant dark spots on my face from acne. i feel like i have freckles but their a little bigger then freckles and darker because i have darkish kinda skin color. Sometimes i have scars that are in the worst places on my face like in between my eyes, on my chin, and right on the middle my forehead above my eyebrows. Will the aspirin work on these scars and on the dark spots?
