To remove build-up from hair products, add baking soda when rinsing your hair.
If you have a lot of build-up in your hair from products like mousse, leave-in conditioner, hairspray, hair wax, oils, hair gels, ok you get the idea… this one’s for you.
How to do it: Just take about a spoonful size (more if you have long hair) of baking soda and rub it into your wet hair after a shampoo. Remember to work it through to the ends of your hair.
Rinse well and voila! No more hair build-up 🙂
can i use baking soda everyday??
It’s best to use only once or twice a week as baking soda can have a temporary drying effect, especially when too much is used.
thanks for the reply.. i have last one question.. can i used conditioner after i put baking
soda??? or no need? thank you
You can if you want to, but commercial conditioners/shampoos just puts the chemical build-up right back in.
Hiya, won’t this make my hair powdery? I unfortunately suffer from this dreadful thing called freaking build up and its uber annoying but i don’t want to make it worse.
Well, you’re not actually supposed to just leave it in. Like the post says, rinse well.
Oopsies 🙂 Guess I was just that baffled by the fact that you can use baking soda that I went a bit loopier than usual 😀
No problem… And Happy New Year 🙂
Will this bleach your hair I read somewhere that it can.
No, baking soda will not bleach hair.
If it could bleach hair, wouldn’t hair salons and everyone else be using it to bleach/dye hair instead of peroxide or ammonia?
More importantly, if it could bleach hair, would people use it to bake cakes?
Sometimes I really wonder where some of these ideas come from…
(sigh.)
Yeah I know I just wanna make sure before I do it haha XD
I’ve been using baking soda for about a month now.
I’m impressed by the results. Hair usually very fine an
limp, now looks an feels thicker. Also add lemon juice
to the cider vinegar. this lightens hair also.

These articles are very helpful. I really was looking for something to not only soothe my acne irritation, but to also soothe the skin on my back as well.I will also try it under my armpits. I am definitely going to use baking soda after this article. Thank you
